High school is an important time in your life. A lot of factors can influence whether or not you
have a successful high school career, but the biggest one is you. We are here to help guide you with important
high school decisions.
Highschool is the best time to learn how to learn. Without knowing how to learn you will never be able to study
effectively. So we highly recommend you consider watching this
video before moving forward.
Now that you know how to learn we present to you the pomodoro method. You may be
wondering, what is that? It's a simple and effective approach designed to improve focus, productivity, and
efficiency during
study or work sessions. The method involves breaking your work or study time into short intervals called
"pomodoros," followed by short breaks.
Below we present you pomofocus.io, an online pomodoro timer!
How to effectively use pomofocus.io:
Pick a task you want to focus on in this session.
Start the timer.
Work!
It's that simple!

Scholarship Resources
If you are planning to take the college route after high school, it’s more than likely that you know how
expensive attending it can be. Below, we have gathered some resources, with links, where you can find scholarships
to apply to, even as a high school student, to use for college! We have also categorized some of these resources
by who is eligible to apply for the scholarships. A lot of these websites, like Niche.com and CollegeBoard.org,
include additional resources to help you navigate this journey.
College
Board: is the website where you can find your AP, PSAT, and SAT scores, given that they are
offered at your school. They also offer various scholarships.
Questbridge: is an amazing program that connects
exceptional, low-income students with leading colleges and opportunities.
The Gates
Scholarship: highly competitive scholarship which provides financial assistance and support to
outstanding, minority, and low-income high school seniors.
Scholarships.com:
is another site you can create an account for to get personalized scholarship recomendations.
Niche.com:
not only has scholarships but also has a place where you can create a list of colleges you're interested in.
Bold.com:
also allows you to create an account, where you can earn points by completing certain tasks, which "unlocks"
more scholarships.
Scholarship Owl:
works similarly to Niche and Bold, where there are tons of essay and non-essay scholarships you can apply to.
Having good grades is important, but it is equally important to be well-rounded. One of the best ways to do this
in high school and beyond is volunteering. Not only will this be a great resume-builder, but you are taking part
in a purpose greater than yourself. That being said, it’s not about how much time you can give, but about the love
you pour from your heart into what you do.
These search browsers will allow you to look up almost any volunteer opportunity out there!
Extracurricular activities provide a channel for reinforcing the lessons learned in the classroom, offering
students the opportunity to apply academic skills in a real-world context, and are thus considered part of a
well-rounded education. We are also adding in a link to an article by College Vine regarding more than 900 ideas
that you can do for extracurricular activities.
Summer is a great time to participate in a program where you can grow as a student and expose yourself to new
opportunities. We have listed some free programs (including Kode with Klossy, which gave us the opportunity to
build this website!), along with a few resources where you can find lists of additional programs.
KodeWithKlossy:
is a free coding camp for girls aged 13-18 that takes place across the United States.
GirlsWhoCode: is a
nonprofit organization that is dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology and computer science.
SummerStudyInUsa.org: This website allows you to find summer programs
which are a perfect fit for your grade level.
TeenLife: is an all-in-one site for summer programs
related to all fields for students in middle and high school.
CollegeVine: makes an updated article with free summer programs each
year. The site usually does so in January as application deadlines can be as early as March and may be
competitive.
